Core Syntax Structure

All Mermaid diagrams follow this pattern:

Key principles:
  • First line declares diagram type (e.g., classDiagram, sequenceDiagram, flowchart)
  • Use %% for comments
  • Line breaks and indentation improve readability but aren't required
  • Unknown words break diagrams; parameters fail silently
